Why did my skin break out all of a sudden?
There can be several reasons why your skin suddenly breaks out. It can be the food that you ate, it can be new products, poor hygiene, bad environment et cetera.... (there are many other reasons!). I was so stupid enough to try out the My Spring It / Epicare gadget again, remember my blogpost about it? Read here... In that blogpost I already said that I prefer to use tweezers rather than that gadget, but I wanted to give it another try after 6 months lol. (My skin didn't break out when I used it back then.) It worked while I used it, the hair were pulled out, but the next day.. oh my, my skin broke out... I directly knew that it was because of that gadget, since it was the only "new" product that I used during that period. My mustache area was all red, swollen and I had a lot of small bumps there. It looked terrible, see picture above >.<". Have you experienced this before when trying out a new product?
How to take care of your skin during this period?
First of all, throw away the product which caused this break out. A break out which is caused by a product will usually go away within a week, but it's important to keep your skin moist!! Just use your normal products which you trust, drink plenty of water, try not to eat unhealthy food, don't try out new products during that period and DO NOT put any make up on your face! Just let your skin REST for a week. These are the most important things that you need to remember while your skin breaks out. To people with a dry skin: Your skin will feel thin when it has almost recovered so keep it moist with a cream! I tried to use Vaseline during this period, which worked great for me, but I understand that you won't use this when your whole face is breaking out. Also, I know that some people breaks out because of the ingredient: Petrolatum which is in it so I don't recommend to use it unless your skin can take it.
7 days has past and my skin is back to normal again :).
aww thats so sad.. my 3 year old sister also has the same thing on her face, she got it from wiping wet tissue on her skin.. cetaphil did wonders on her skin rashes
Sterkte hoor! Ik weet hoe vervelend het is.
aigoo, it looks like you are having an allergic reaction ><! It's great that you have a few days to recover~ I remember the last time I had this kind of reaction, I was so ITCHY! Stupid Hope in a Jar...
ReplyDeleteYikes! Hope it heals soon, Elisa. The one time my face broke out with pimples was when I used a new cleanser. I vowed to always test new products on a small patch of skin first since then.
ReplyDeleteI used that gadget a couple of times for fun, but luckily never broke out. Will be extra careful now
Ah, dat is echt heel erg balen! Gelukkig dat het na 7 dagen over was!
ReplyDeleteDenk gewoon een reactie ergens op waar je misschien wel allergisch voor bent ofzo :(
Ahhh sorry to read about that :( it is a real nuisance when you break out. You are super lucky though to have it happen to you only once in your entire life! If I eat unhealthy snacks I will be guaranteed to have a load of pimples a few days later ToT
ReplyDeleteOh no! Something similar to this happened to my friend, she got her face waxed when she usually just used tweezers too. It also resulted in a bad sudden breakout. But like you said, it healed within a week, but during that time she was really sad :( So I hope it heals faster for you.
ReplyDeleteWat vreselijk! Mij is het ook een keer overkomen, en ik vond het echt vreselijk :(
ReplyDeleteoh nooo! v_v it's always terrible when skin breaks out. actually you are right ~ it's not the end of world and i guess a lot of people don't care but i personally feel so extremely embarassed and uncomfortable >.<"""
ReplyDeleteShuShu ♥
oucch. I had the exact same thing happen to me this week.. I've been using a new primer and my skin kept breaking out in hives.. after about a week I finally pin pointed which product it was (tried out a few news ones all at once ><). Now I'm in the recovering stage..
ReplyDeleteReally good tips for people!
Hey hey! I actually had this before! It's actually due to stress or sleeping late. I didn't use any new product at that time and I got the exact same thing that you have now.
ReplyDeleteIt won't clear up. Dont use acne stuff because it'll burn and cause it to flare more.
Use anti bacterial soap, and use cortisone gel/cream.
It's not "break out". Although it looks like it, it's just an infection of the skin responding to your lower immune system. Don't worry, I went to the derm for this and she told me to do that and sleep earlier for the remainder of days until you're healed.
Also, I was prescribed anti bacterial pills to help it heal faster, so if you really need it, you have to get prescriptions.
Otherwise, follow the steps above. And definite apply cortisone as much as possible (don't forget). And the last stage, you'll see white heads (don't pop) they are at the contagious stage.
I hope it helps! I'm sorry you have to go through it.
Much loves! Hang in there!
Let me know if you need more info!
ReplyDeleteTry to use aloe gel or lotion too! It helps soothes it.

Oh no! I'm glad your skin is back to normal now! I've actually never broken out to a product, to my knowledge at least....I always attributed it to my diet or something like that. I recently broke out too! And out of nowhere! So I kinda assumed it was because I've been off my BCP for a few weeks, which does an amazing job controlling my acne.
ReplyDeleteIt happened to me too! I was studying for an exam and the day before I had fever, cold, redness and sort of pimples on my cheecks. Sometime my skin breaks out because of stress, hot wax or oils from my hair, but it was the first time it happened in that way! O_oThank you for the post and advices!!!xoxo
ReplyDeleteYeah, i heard that cetaphil works great on sensitive skin :o !! she should stop using wet tissues :o
ReplyDelete=< thanks to that stupid gadget that i tried =.="
ReplyDeleteI've learned my lesson =.=" need to try all new products on my hand or neck first instead of my face lol..
ReplyDeletekwam door die gadget die ik gebruikte... denk dat er bacterien erop was ofso =/ i don't know.. gelijk weggooit dat rot ding hahaha
ReplyDeleteWell, i have that with eating tons of chocolate.. every time when i eat milk chocolate, pimples are guaranteed on the next day lol. but yeah.. i'm super happy that i don't have a lot of problems with my skin. i can imagine that it would be so uncomfortable if i had acne .
ReplyDeleteit is back to normal now after 7 days..:) oh my, i can imagine that people will get sad if their whole face is breaking out >.<" omgosh ..
ReplyDeleteja, ik vond het ook vreselijk :( mja gelijk kon ik gewoon thuis blijven. and you know.. het is niet het einde van de wereld.. maar kan me wel voorstellen dat je je verschrikkelijk onzeker gaat voelen.
ReplyDeleteyeah, i can imagine that people will feel uncomfortable, but thankfully it will recover within 7 days @_@" it would be terrible if i had that for the rest of my life ..
ReplyDeleteyeah.. it's always confusing when you try a lot of new products at once.. it's actually very baddddd to do that, since it's hard to find which product it is if your skin breaks out. However, i'm glad that you finally found the product that caused the break out.. (throw it AWAY! OMG ><") hope your skin will heal soon!!! xx.
ReplyDeletegaaa ~! i just know how actually u feel .. huh . i had tried a lot of product .. but after some period of using them .. my face break out again .. huh .. it really stress me up sometime ... huh =(
ReplyDeletedo you know what caused the break out?? make sure to find that out first.. You can always go to your dermatologist or doctor which will give you a cream or pills (depending on the cause of your break out). Like i said in this blogpost, don't use any new products again (except the one from the doctor lol).. because it can break your skin out again and again.. just let your skin REST and keep it moist!!!
ReplyDeleteohh that must have been the reason, why did you stop with BCP? Once you stop, your hormones will go crazy (which will cause acne).
ReplyDeletethank you for the info hun.. i've heard that stress and sleeping late causes a break out, or what you said an infection of the skin..
ReplyDeletebut i was SURE that this break out / allergic reaction was caused by the My spring it gadget that I used since it was the only "new" product that i tried during that week. and I had only used it on that area where it's RED on the picture so it must have been that xD. I felt so stupid afterwards for trying that product again.. T___T sigh..
I went to the doctor to let it checked and she said that it just looked like an allergic reaction from a product.. so yeah she just gave me a cream.
It's gone now and healed after 7 days ^^.
i've read it before that stress, poor hygiene, environment etc etc can cause breakouts.. just don't stress that much hun haha, chill ^^ and keep everything clean, like your hair and pillow etc.. try to use different skincare products like cetaphil if you have sensitive dry skin. xx.
ReplyDeleteyay ok! :) update us!
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel! Sometimes it is just because you are sick, or unhealthy! Other times it is the makeup or food you eat!
ReplyDeleteMakes sense makes sense~! Are you on BCP too? I actually just didn't have any more pills, that's why I stopped >.< Going to get some more tmrw, whee~!
ReplyDeleteI can´t wait any foundation cause it doesn´t matter what brand it is.. it will break me out and it will break me out real bad :/
ReplyDeleteWear... not wait ;)
ReplyDeleteoh my.. must be an ingredient that your skin can't take =/ have you figured out which ingredient it is?
ReplyDelete:( sorry to hear about ur skin's reaction! thanks for ur comment on my blog though & i hope u will follow me! :) I've just followed u!
ReplyDeletewww.theShopaholic247.com
i know this might seem obvious but is it possible that after you last used it you forgot to sterilize it with alcohol? cus the bacteria might have been there for a while if u haven't used it for a few months which cn definitely break u out :(
ReplyDeletehmm, i did sterilized it with alcohol after i used it for the last time.. but not BEFORE i used it .. so that should be the reason.. anyways, i threw that stupid gadget away already lol.
ReplyDeletesimilarly i have too a problem like that well i will follow your instruction soon...pray for me

Try with epsom salt. Apply with your facial cleaning rutine [do not mix epsom salt with any soap bar, it become like a hard dough hard to remove from the skin]. You can mix epsom salt in any liquid kind of soap, in your cleaning facial cream: I recommend only add in to the small portion to use each time. You can put epsom salt at your face as a facial mask [epsom salt a little bit of water, only to make the epsom salt humid], I put this kind of facial mask only for some minutes [5 min. or 10 min., but try] avoid eyes area. Is not a magic remedy; but it will clear up your skin. I also try epsom salt in my facial moisturizer lotion. Do not combined this to apply in your eyes skin area; but for the rest of the face you can apply a little bit of the moisturizer with some cristals of epsom salt [a tiny little bit]... with constancy your face would be better... I hope this help you... Epsom salt is cheap. For bath: a shower gel with some epsom salt cristals, result in a relaxing shower with softer skin.
ReplyDeleteI also use clove essence in those difficult spot with pimples [clove essence: I purchase in the pharmacy; is some kind of destillation using water and cloves. This essence is quite strong: has the strong smell of cloves; in the face it could be burning for an instant [hold on this strong sensation will dissapear]; despite this feeling it won´t mark your face [try in a very little tiny pimple in your face to watch the reaction], I use it to dry pimples very fast. I hope this advice will help you.
I have 40 years, combined oily skin.
You call that a breakout? Wow. Some people have it so easy.
ReplyDeleteit's still a break out.. ;)
