Review: Magnetic Nail Polish from Bornprettystore.com

You might have heard of magnetic nail polishes before since it's one of the nail art trends of 2012. Today I'm going to review one of the magnetic nail polishes from Bornprettystore.com. They have send me one for  review purposes. I had never tried magnetic nail polishes before, but I've seen pictures and videos about it and I thought that it looked pretty awesome ^^. Therefore, I'm very excited to try it out!
Description
It's a bordeaux red nail polish from Liang QiEr - Lie Wen Nail. Color: L-005. There is 15 ml 0.53 fl Oz in it. According to the description on the nail polish its made in the USA.

Price and Where to buy?
You can get the nail polish at Bornprettystore.com for $6.38 including a magnet. Use my coupon code: MDJ61 to get 7% OFF!! The price is reasonable since it comes with a magnet as well. I have seen some very expensive magnetic nail polishes in the market which offers the same effect like these, so I think that the price is quite low compared to others that I've seen. Bornprettystore offers 20 magnetic nail polishes (that's A LOT!, see picture below for the other colors and go to this link to see their magnetic nail polish collection: http://www.bornprettystore.com/magic-magnetic-polish-c-106_247.html.

Magnet
Like I said before, it includes a magnet, they have added a handle on the magnet to make it easier for us to hold it. Bornprettystore.com offers different kinds of magnetic plates. I received the one with diagonal lines, if you prefer a different shape you can check their website out since they are offering more. These diagonal lines can be seen on my nails when I put the magnet above the wet nail polish.

Packaging
It's a bordeaux red nail polish with shimmer and silver glitters in it. The cap of the nail polish makes me think of Crackling nail polishes, since they have the same cap, see blogpost xD. There is nothing wrong with it though, it's easy to hold and its sturdy, so it's great that they have used similar caps.

Brush & Formula
The brush is short, small and thick but it's very easy to use. I thought that it would be streaky at first, but the formula of the nail polish is very good. It didn't create a streaky effect after applying the nail polish. Also, it dried extremely fast (within 1 minute!).

Is the nail polish sheer?
I wouldn't say that the nail polish is sheer. It looks great with one coat as well. However, the magnetic nail polish works best if you apply a thin coat first, let that dry and apply a thicker coat after that.

How to use
1. Apply a thin coat and let it dry.
2. Apply another coat but thicker this time. While the nail polish is wet, you need to place the magnet over it without touching the polish and wait for 10-15 seconds for the magnet to create the design.
3. Voilà! Apply a top coat and you're done with your magnetic nails ^^!

My opinion
I really love the cool magnetic effect! I did need to practice for a few times to get that effect. I noticed that it doesn't really work well when you apply a thin coat. It dries very quickly, so it's also important to apply a thick coat and place the magnet as fast as you can above it. Otherwise your magnet won't be able to create that diagonal shape on your nails. That's why I also recommend to do one nail at the time. Anyways, I'm overall very happy with this nail polish. The price is reasonable and it's great that Bornprettystore offers other magnetic shapes ^^. It did chip after 3 days though (without applying a top coat), but I'm sure that it will last longer when you apply a great top coat afterwards :). And WOW have you seen the other 19 colors? I would love to try the other colors too and expand my magnetic nail polish collection ^___^. Would you try these nail polishes?

  4. I've tried these and... failed horribly. I just can't get the design to come out! Oh well, I'll stick to good old fashion hand art.

  5. it took me awhile before i could create that design as well.. i was also like, why the hell isn't it working o_O" .. but i noticed that you need to put a single coat and let that dry and put another coat afterwards to get that magnetic design on your nails. It dries extremely fast so you need to work quickly.
