Review: Original Beauty Blender from BeautyCarousel.com

This application tool is on the beauty market for quite a while. I was always curious rather if it is good or not, since I read good & bad reviews about this sponge. Have you girls tried it before? If yes, let me know what you think about it. If no, which application tool do you use to apply foundation? Leave your answers in the comment section ;). In this blogpost I will share my thoughts about this cute pinkish sponge applicator, check it out ^___^.

Description
The shape of this remarkable sponge is designed by 2 top Hollywood makeup artists, Rea Ann Silva and Veronica Lorenz. The elliptical shape was specially designed to allow access to hard-to-reach contour face areas with stunning ease, and its lack of edges eliminates streaks, allowing for a perfect and professional makeup application every time. Its elegant suede texture caresses the skin for an undetectable, natural finish.

It is recommended that you clean your Beautyblender with Blendercleanser for the sponge to stay clean and last longer. With proper care, your Beautyblender will last 4 to 6 months. Beautyblender is latex free, non-allergenic and odour-free.

Price and Where to buy?
The price varies per shop. At Beautycarousel.com it's around €19,32 (link to product). It's also available together with the blendercleanser. Feel free to use my code: BCElisa to get 10% OFF!

Design
It has an egg shape and it's soft. It feels great on the skin ^__^.
How to use
Make the sponge wet with water and squeeze it for a few times. You will notice that the sponge expands. Afterwards, put the sponge on a clean towel and squeeze it again to make sure that the excess water is out.
I'm currently using the Water fuse Blemish Base from Dr. Jart (see review of this product).

Put a few dots on your face with your finger and bounce the beauty blender onto your face by using the round base. Bouncing, called stippling in the make up world, blends make up without creating changes in the texture or tone of your skin. Use Beautyblender's pointed side for hard-to-reach spots like around the nose and mouth, and under the eyes. Use the round base for foundation or blush/bronzer on the larger areas of your face such as your forehead, cheeks and chin.
Pros
- Gives you a pretty finish
- Sponge feels soft on the skin
- Cute pink color
- Gives an even and light coverage (no streaky or cakey effect!)
- You can use it to apply blush/bronzer/highlighter/powder as well

Cons
- Quite expensive
- Hard to wash off the make up (I didn't use the blender cleanser)
- Short lifetime: 6 months
- Sponge absorbs more product than a brush, so you are wasting some product
- Need to wash the sponge often

My opinion
Isn't this pink sponge just adorable? I'm loving the pretty, natural and even finish when using this sponge. No streaky effect and no cakeyness! That's what I LOVE about this applicator :). What I also like about it is that you can use it for applying blush, bronzer, highlighter or powder too. This pink applicator is easy to use and I think that the outcome is ALMOST as good as the Sigma F80 - Flat top kabuki brush. However, I do think that the sponge absorbs more product than the brush, which means that you are wasting some product. This is also the reason why it gives you more of a light coverage on the face. I've used the same amount of bb cream and I noticed that the Sigma brush gives you more coverage than the beauty blender.

  4. Thanks for the great in depth review Elisa! I've been wanting to try both beautyblender and the sigma brush for a while, so I love that you compared them! I can definitely see how a sponge absorbs more product, but I do love how it gives you a very natural light finish :).

  8. It's so damn cute!!! I haven't it, atm I'm using my hands, a brush for mineral foundations and sometimes a little cheap sponge to eliminate excess.
If everything was pink, I would buy a lot of stuff ahaha XD

  16. I've seen a few bloggers talking about the beauty blender recently. I wonder if it's making a comeback.. I know it was super popular when it first came out but I never saw the appeal. I always thought it eat up too much of the product and it looks like I was right.
