KLAIRS MID-DAY BLUE SUN LOTION SPF40 PA++
This sun lotion claims to maintain moisture while protecting the skin from UV rays, aging by oxidation and overproduction of sebum. Because the sun lotion has a blue color it will help to lighten up the skin tone. It also has a non-sticky texture. It has 50ml of product and is suitable for all skintypes, that's what they claim.
PACKAGING
It has a gorgeous gradient blue packaging from blue to white. It comes in a squeeze tube so you can easily get the right amount out that you wish. The description on the packaging states: " This fast-absorbing light-weight formulation sunscreen that delivers SPF40 protection to shield the skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays that may contribute to skin damage and skin aging. It has a waterful texture with a blue shade and shine-free finish."
.
TEXTURE & SCENT
I have never seen such a texture before, this sun lotion has a creamy mousse texture when you squeeze it out. It doesn't have a waterful texture how it is described on the package. It can be easily spread and once you spread it, it turns into a cream. Unfortunately the cream does cling into dry patches and makes it even more obvious.
This product contains fragrance, the scent is a bit overwhelming and smells like fresh herbs, once applied you won't be smelling it anymore, it fades away.

HOW TO USE
Apply sunscreen 15 minutes before going out in the sun. It is meant to be applied at the last step of your skincare routine. When you apply it under your make up as a make up base, make sure to wait until the sunscreen is fully absorbed by your skin before you apply make up. When you are active outdoors, re-application is needed, obviously you cannot do that when you wear make up, so I recommend to use a cushion foundation with a SPF or a facial mist with a SPF so your skin will be protected during the day.

HOW COME THE CREAM IS BLUE?
Unfortunately the blue color of the cream isn't that visible on the pictures that I took due to the lighting. It has a very light blue shade. This product contains Guaiazulene, which is a color additive that gives the cream a blue color. (I marked it blue in the ingredient list.) Because of this ingredient it has a tone fixation effect that reduces redness in skin tones, which may not be for everyone, definitely not for darker skin tones. It's even visible on my hand and my hand is darker than my face. On my face I am a NC20, on my hand I am NC25. I applied it on the right side of my hand and you can definitely see that it's lighter than the left side where I didn't apply anything. Once applied on my face, the tone fixation effect isn't noticeable, I didn't turn into a ghost luckily. It only reduces the redness a tiny bit but not much.

PROS
• comes in a squeeze tube, good packaging
• absorbs fast into the skin
• feels lightweight on the skin
• is moisturizing
• no sticky feeling after application
• makes the skin feel soft
CONS
• clings into dry patches, making the dry patches obvious
• doesn't look good when you apply make up on top if you have dry patches, emphasizing it more
• the scent, not a fan of it since it's overwhelming and smells like fresh herbs (personal preference)
• the tone fixation effect makes the skin look whiter on darker skin tones
• not suitable for all skin tones, only for light skin tones
• redness reduction is very minimal
• does not control sebum

FINAL THOUGHTS
Sad to say that this product is a bit disappointing. It's great that the sunscreen feels moist, is lightweight, has no sticky feeling and absorbs fast which are also very important for a sunscreen. However, there are too many cons about this sunscreen which is why I am disappointed. I have dry patches at my nose and cheek area and this sunscreen clings into dry patches, making the dry patches obvious which is the largest reason why I don't like it. And putting make up on top of it makes it even worse.
The cool thing about this product is that it's blue. However, the tone fixation effect works very minimal on my skin, redness can still be seen, which is why I am disappointed about it as well.
Such a pity that this sunscreen isn't for all skin tones since it will make your skin slightly whiter. If you have a dry skin or have a dark skin tone, this sunscreen is definitely not for you. If you got a normal skin type (no dry patches) with a light skin tone, this might be suitable for you.
note: this product was sent to me for review purposes, this didn't affect my opinion about the product. I didn't receive money to write about it. This blogpost contains affiliate links, see disclaimer.
I echo your sentiments. I Heard great reviews especially from Youtuber Joan Kim and was convinced. I purchased it online. I was dismayed upon using it. Everything Joan Kim said was a complete opposite, at least in my experience. I looked like a ghost considering I have fair skin. It was a little too heavy for me. Not gonna use it again. Ever! Great review by the way. -Lee Anne
